TALKEETNA -- The Susitna Valley girls' track and field squad won the Su Valley Track and Field Invitational at Su Valley High School last weekend.
The Rams earned 182 total points to finish well ahead of second-place Grace Christian.
Su Valley won six events in the meet. Senior Melissa Ostermick won a pair of events for the Rams. Ostermick won the 300-meter hurdles and the 1,600.
Des Beasgrove (100), Krystal Moore (800), Kayti Krepel (long jump) and Heidi Hartley (shot put) also won events for Su Valley.
Houston finished third in the boys class.
The Hawks, led by junior Andy Kappler, earned 72 total points. Kappler won both the shot put and discus.
Kappler's throw of just more than 118-feet was 14 feet farther than the second-place toss in the discus. His throw of 44-feet won the shot put.
Su Valley finished fourth in the boys class and Houston finished fifth in the girls division.
