Regarding my position on a shooting range at the Curtis D. Menard Memorial Sports Center, I do support an indoor shooting range at this location operated by a private gun club or group. I do not support an outdoor shooting range located at the Menard facility, nor do I support the process that has been used.
We need a rifle range. We need a firing range that will serve 90,000 people and a long-rifle range. This is clearly a borough-wide, self-evident need, and we need a shooting range close enough, but yet large enough, to allow for growth. That is why two years ago I went to the borough and now we have a process initiated that will be open, professional and, more importantly, give residents throughout the borough what we really need.
I met with James King, borough community developer, Mayor Larry DeVilbiss, Mr. Moosey, borough manager, and we will have at least one successful long range.
If you are interested in signing a petition in support of a long-rifle range, petitions are located at Three Bears, Chimo Guns, Reload, Ship Creek Sales, Krazy Moose, Three Rivers Fly and Tackle and similar locations.
I support the right to own and bear arms. I am also a member of the NRA. I own guns and my husband owns guns. I am not anti-gun. I am in favor of good planning. Let’s bring the community together with good, professional planning and vision, not division.
