PALMER — The Super Saturated Sugar Strings performed at the Musk Ox Farm for the Musk Sugar Ox Magik concert Friday, July 22.

Musk Ox Farm Director Mark Austin said that he was pleased with the overall turnout, estimating about 250 attendees.

The well known Alaskan band has performed at the farm before. Austin noted that they were theist major act to perm at the farm since the onset of the pandemic. He said it was great to have the Super Saturated Sugar Strings back at the farm, and they even played longer than planned with an enthusiastic crowd dancing the night away.

“Everything went really well. It really was a magic evening for everyone,” Austin said.

Austin said they’re also preparing for the 20th Annual Running with the Bulls race scheduled for Aug. 14. This year’s event features a 1K kids race, a 5K run/walk race, and a 10K run across the grounds.

Running with the Bulls is a fundraising event that supports the nonprofit farm’s efforts throughout the year.

Austin said they had to hold a virtual event in 2020 and held an in-person/virtual hybrid in 2021. He said they’re planning to hold the event in person with a virtual option again this year as people. He added that they’ve had upwards of 300 racers in the past.

“That’s been really amazing to see how much the community embraces our race,” Austin said.

The Musk Ox Farm will not be holding the annual Oxtoberfest event due to a shortage of staff, according to Austin. They didn’t hold the event last year either due to the rise of the omicron variant. He said they’re planning to bring that event back in full swing next year. He said they also plan to hold several concerts during the winter.

“It’s really important for us. We just love being a part of the community,” Austin said.
