The overall winner is eighth-grader Neillan Alcantra. Alcantra, center, will represent Palmer Junior Middle School at the state bee in Anchorage on Feb. 26. The first runner-up is eighth-grader Darbie Dennis, left. The second runner-up is seventh-grader Alison Reddell, right. Also pictured is spelling bee co-ordinator and teacher at Palmer Junior Middle School Linda Jo Klapperich. Klapperich has been coordinating the school spelling bee for more than 10 years. She has been a judge at the state spelling bee for the last three years.
