To the editor:
I am voting for Matthew Beck for the Mat-Su Borough Assembly District 2 seat. In doing so, I am voting for a young, intelligent and energetic conservative who has been a positive influence to many young people. I have seen Matthew deal with difficult issues in a positive and collaborative manner realizing that there are several means to achieve a goal. Engaging people to be part of the solution is his means to build consensus.
He supports the major infrastructure projects that will bring economic growth to the Valley. He believes in a strong public, charter and home school system and recognizes the amazing gifts that parents, teachers, aides, administrators and support staff bring to our children every day. He believes in sustainable development and that agriculture needs to be part of our economic foundation. He will strive to protect our surface and ground water resources, work to rebuild our salmon stocks and protect our air quality. Expanding tourism, safe transportation and encouraging new industries to locate in the Valley are among his highest priorities.
He and his wife co-own a small business and know first-hand the struggles small business owners experience in an ever-changing economic environment. He will bring new ideas to the assembly and will challenge us all to look forward to ensure that decisions made today will render long-term positive benefits to our children and grandchildren. He will listen, vet issues and make informed decisions.
I encourage District 2 residents to vote for Matthew Beck on Oct. 1. He will listen to us and represent us well.
