Rep. Bill Stoltze and other members of the Legislative Council recently approved a $280,000-month lease for the renovated Anchorage offices. That’s five times greater than the current rent. Rep. Stoltze and other members of the Legislative Council approved the 10-year, no-bid lease. I understand that renovations needed to be made — but we’re talking about a glass elevator, heated sidewalk, and maple and glass bathroom stalls. It wasn’t necessary to charge the taxpayers five times the current rent. To his credit, Stoltze admitted to having “renter’s remorse,” but that was too little, too late.
I’ve known Pat Chesbro for more than 12 years. She has too much common sense to make that kind of mistake. She’s honest, thoughtful, forward-looking. I’m supporting Pat Chesbro for state Senate.
