Retiring teacher, coach urges Colony grads to ‘find their 68’

To the editor:
When a friend of mine asked Bill Stoltze what his ideas were about looking for alternative energy sources and trying to limit our use of oil, Stoltze snapped that my friend must be from “another planet” to think we wouldn’t always rely on oil — and walked away.
Last week at the Chugiak Senior Center in a dialog with Pat Chesbro’s campaign manager, each time she offered what might be a solution to some of Alaska’s fiscal problems, Stoltze countered that her ideas were “fairy dust.” Not one reasonable response as to why none of them would work — just “fairy dust.”
At a recent candidate forum at Mat-Su College, he dropped the “f-bomb” twice on another candidate — and not quietly, I might add, when he had observed the candidate having a conversation with someone Bill dislikes very much.
We need caring, thoughtful, reasonable people in our legislature. It’s as if Stoltze has graduated from the Don Young School of Diplomacy, unable to respond to reasonable questioning with a civil tongue.
It’s past time to find someone who is willing to listen, to offer reasonable alternatives to difficult situations, and to work diligently to break the gridlock in Juneau.
Pat Chesbro is that person. Pat is eager to talk openly and candidly. She wants to get ideas from the people in her district. She’s knocked on thousands of doors to do just that. Let’s bring reason, diplomacy, and respect to the legislature. Vote for a candidate we can trust.
Vote Pat Chesbro, Senate F, Nov. 4.
