Supports DeVilbiss

To the editor:

Mat-Su Borough elections are Oct. 2, less than two weeks away. As a 30-year resident of the borough, I urge voters to change their traditional apathy about non-statewide elections and turn out at the polls to vote for Larry DeVilbiss for borough mayor.

Why do I urge you to vote for Larry DeVilbiss? I can offer a number of reasons:

• Because he is a 56-year resident who is familiar with the people of the borough and their needs.

• Because he has devoted years of service to the borough, serving on the assembly, the school board, MEA board, numerous other boards, commissions and community councils, and currently is the borough mayor.

• Because he is a practical environmentalist — a farmer who cares for the land and for the three generations of his family now engaged in farming.

• Because he is a successful local businessman, due to his hard work, innovation, risk-taking and marketing skills.

• Because he supports the creation of jobs in the borough so others may work and live here.

• Because he is a proven leader who understands the need for conservative fiscal restraint, but also our need for quality schools, roads and borough services.

Perhaps what impresses me the most is the man himself — how hard he works as mayor. His schedule would tire a much younger person, and yet he takes time to listen to individual suggestions and problems and to act on them.

Vote Larry DeVilbiss for Mat-Su Borough mayor.
