To the editor:
In my experience, Sen. Mike Dunleavy has been extremely approachable, and helpful, since he was elected in 2012.
My business and property were in the path of a Department of Transportation highway expansion project. I knew, and DOT knew, it would have to acquire my land, but I was stuck in the bureaucratic process. I could not get a firm date and when I did get my calls returned there was always a conflicting story about what would happen with my property. That sort of uncertainty can be debilitating for a small business. I called Sen. Dunleavy’s office and his staff put me in touch with him directly. Within the day I was receiving phone calls and the process for acquisition was moving forward. I didn’t ask for special treatment. I just wanted an end to the double-talk and runaround I was being given, and some straight answers and forthright dealing, on a reasonable timeline. In short, I wanted my government at least working with me if it wasn’t working for me. Sen. Dunleavy made that happen.
Too often politicians forget the very people who elected them to office. In my experience that was not the case with Sen. Dunleavy. To me, it appears Sen. Dunleavy doesn’t just care about the people in his district, he fights for them.
