To the editor:
Mike Dunleavy, raised in Pennsylvania, came to Alaska in 1983 and like many of us got the Alaska sourdough fever. From Southeast, Alaska to places north, he worked and traveled. It was in Kotzebue that he met his lovely wife, Rose, an Alaska Native.
Dunleavy has a strong family background, and extensive business and educational experience in our state and the Valley. Dunleavy’s résumé includes:
• teacher, principal, assistant superintendent and superintendent;
• running the Mat-Su correspondence program;
• managing the Alaska Statewide Mentor Project;
• heading the University of Alaska’s K-12 outreach program;
• and, current president of the Mat-Su Borough School District Board.
He has knowledge and expertise in working with and balancing budgets in the millions of dollars and making tough and wise decisions and choices for the benefit of our families and businesses.
Dunleavy has confidence parents are wise enough to know what choices are best for their kids, and that is why he supports school vouchers.
Dunleavy will make protecting and defending life a top priority; that is why he has received a strong endorsement from Alaska Right to Life.
Let’s elect Dunleavy Aug. 28 for Senate Seat D. He is the best investment our Valley can make for our future!
