Supports Katkus for mayor

To the editor:

I hate the looks of political signs, but when we saw Taffina Katkus signs go up in the area, we were delighted.

Taffina is very honest, has integrity and will work hard to make sure taxpayer dollars are spent wisely.

The job of mayor requires smart planning, honest leadership, sound problem solving and a determination to see things through. Taffina Katkus has those skills.

We have never openly supported a candidate before this, but after witnessing the present city administration in action and getting to know Taffina Katkus on the city council, we fully support Taffina Katkus and we hope Wasilla residents will, too.

We are hopeful that the Area-Wide Plan and Parks and Recreation Plan, which have already cost the taxpayers $220,000, can go forward under the Taffina Katkus administration. Those plans have sat idle for over three years in the hands of the present administration. Could it be that, if adopted, a rifle range on park lands would not have been an issue?

Thank Taffina Katkus for working with the borough for the last two years to get the petitions out there to our local sporting goods stores for borough land for a rifle range.

If you can, meet the candidates personally and look at their records, it will make your decision easy.

Less than a fourth of the registered voters voted in the last election. Your vote does count!
