To the editor:
I am writing to support Ray Michaelson’s candidacy for the Mat-Su School Board. I am proud to say I have known Ray both professionally and personally for six years. I have known no one else with the integrity that Ray has displayed. He has tremendous qualifications to become an outstanding board member.
Unlike some of our other Valley politicians, he and his wife have raised three very productive children who excelled in our Mat-Su schools and are now doing well in higher education, including one child with special needs. Ray has worked 30 years with youth offenders in our correctional facilities and has a clear understanding of the value of education in creating productive citizens.
In his limited free time, he has coached our Valley youth and high school sports and has gained the respect of the kids and his colleagues with sound judgment and excellent work ethic. Ray is very concerned with keeping the variety of quality educational programs that we now enjoy in the Mat-Su and supports all things that are good and healthy for our kids.
He is a reasonable, objective decision maker who will protect the children’s best interests in everything. Since he has no business relationship with the school district, unlike some of our candidates, he can be completely objective in his decision making process. Ray Michaelson has my vote, and he should have yours too.
