To the editor:
I think that the Maud Road and Sullivan Road shooting ranges will be a positive attribute to the Palmer area.
By creating a designated range and setting it up so that people have a safe and accessible spot to target shoot or sight in their rifles and such, the state and borough governments are taking a positive step toward reducing the debacle that is being perpetuated in the Jim Creek and various other trail systems areas where people are shooting in a non-safe non-designated site.
Most shooters (not all, but most) are responsible individuals and will not only clean up their spent casings and targets, but most will help encourage others to do the same.
If you look at Rabbit Creek and other state ranges you will find that most gun enthusiasts want to keep the ranges safe and clean for all to enjoy and do so in a self-policing manner. I hope this message and the messages from others in support of this project get presented through your publication as well so that people can hear the positive side to this endeavor as well.
