Supports smaller class sizes

To the editor:

I am supporting the school bonds in part because I want smaller class sizes.

What is the connection between smaller class sizes and school bonds? It’s this: most of the time the money to build portables comes from the funding appropriations for instruction.

The money for school construction bonds comes through another program and does not take money out of the classroom away from the kids.

Each portable the district builds costs about the same as one teacher (including benefits). One portable = one teacher for one year.

One year is a long time in the life of a student. When I
