To the editor:
I urge Alaskans to vote for Mead Treadwell in his race for lieutenant governor on Aug. 24.
More than 16 years ago I met Mead when he joined the board of the Alaska Science and Technology Foundation. I know Mead as a significant force in Alaska’s efforts to grow and diversify our economy. Among those running, he will make the most difference as lieutenant governor.
I like Mead’s depth of experience in Alaska and international business, in research and in standing up for Alaska. He has helped found several companies, including the all-Alaska pipeline project and two technology firms that trade on the stock exchanges. He has given us ammunition in his writings and his work to stand up for hunting and fishing, access to Alaska’s lands, Alaska’s military, Alaska’s Native people and our future in the Arctic.
Finally, he is a conservative standing up for families. As he is a single, widowed father of three teenagers, I know him not only to put Alaska first, but Alaska’s kids first too.
