Supports Wall

To the editor:

When Brandon Wall is at a Wasilla City Council meeting there’s more than one person on the council who is not a bobble-head.

I’ve been impressed with his courage in addressing the waste and inefficiency of the Rupright administration. He firmly and respectfully stood his ground and refused to be bullied or guilt-tripped when his business experience led him to conclude that Mayor Verne Rupright’s budget for staff was inflated and top-heavy in some departments.

Based on the kinds of questions Brandon asks, it’s apparent that he reads the packet, does some research on his own and understands the issue(s). I am amazed with how quickly he got up to speed on city issues and parliamentary procedure. Listening to how staff responds to his questions, it’s also clear that he has developed excellent professional relationships of mutual respect and trust with staff.

Brandon Wall listens. As a frequent observer of city council meetings, I have seen that he has an open mind and doesn’t finally make up his mind on an issue until after he has heard from everyone on all sides and has had all his questions answered.

Mr. Wall has impressed me with his thoughtfulness. He is not reactive; he does not zig and zag from this issue to that, seeming to base his decisions on whatever side has the best sound bite. His decisions are rooted in a well-thought-out philosophy of governance and awareness of what constitutes good public process and policy. He’s very articulate, and before he votes on an issue those present know clearly why and how he has come to his decision.

What labels would I put on Brandon? “Liberal?” No. “Excellent?” Yes!

I will vote for him, absolutely, for sure.
