An Anchorage man has been accused of playing musical cars in the Valley stealing vehicles from local car lots and leaving stolen ones in their place.
David Paul Brockman, 26, allegedly stole a vehicle in Anchorage and drove it Nov. 8 to Tony Chevrolet in Wasilla. There he spoke to a salesperson, indicating he was interested in buying a vehicle, according to Alaska State Trooper John Cyr.
After test-driving several vehicles, Brockman allegedly told the salesperson he wanted to take a black 1997 Chevy Tahoe out for another spin. He did but he never came back. Brockman left the first stolen vehicle on the lot at Tony Chevrolet, Cyr said.
Four days later, around noon, Brockman reportedly returned to the Valley driving the Tahoe and slipped into a red 1999 extended cab GMC Sierra pickup warming up outside Valley Motors. Again, he was gone. Again, police reports said, he left the previously stolen car in its place.
Police are looking for Brockman, described as 6 feet 1 inch tall, approximately 270 pounds, with short, brown hair and blue eyes.
He may still be driving the Sierra.
Anyone with information regarding Brockman or the crime is asked to call Alaska State Troopers at 745-2131, or Crime Stoppers at 745-3333.
