That piece of writing was the most unexpected and blatantly partisan piece of writing I have ever seen in the Frontiersman (Aug. 5 editorial “Republicans can weather the storm”). Democrats (on a) feeding frenzy? (Corruption of) a few Republican state lawmakers?
If Democrats such as Ethan Berkowitz hadn't been futilely trying to call attention to lobbyists making calls and passing notes to legislators on the floor while in session, if Republicans hadn't been introducing and passing legislation blatantly favoring the oil companies, if a tax structure hadn't been created favoring powerful business interests over the interests of average residents — well, that's a small part of the picture. If all those hadn't been going on for so long, then you might call it a feeding frenzy around "the bleeding of a few Republicans."
What we are seeing and hearing are the collective sighs of relief of many who think at last something is being done about corruption and greed.
I like the line from Hamlet, "the lady doth protest too much, methinks." Methinks someone protests too much.
