Tale of the ticket

On Thanksgiving evening, my wife and I were on our way home when we were stopped for a minor equipment infraction (that we were unaware of) by the Houston police.

Normally, if I had a taillight out and was pulled over it would be no big deal at all. The problem that I have is we were pulled over well out of the Houston city limits and the officer was hiding, on private property, just outside the Borough line that shows the city limits of Houston. I work in Willow and commute there every day, and this is not the first time I have seen this blatant jurisdiction violation by the Houston police.

Normally, I would just pay the ticket, but this is going to court. It will end up costing Houston way more than it would get, even if by some chance I lose. Chances are (the officer issuing the ticket) won’t even show up in Palmer because that would leave half of the Houston police force unable to hide behind trees and signs out of city limits on private property.

When a city depends mainly on the tax it receives on ice cream cone sales, I guess it has to get money somehow, but this is just wrong.
