TALKEETNA — Town council will hold a special session at 6 p.m. Monday to review its jurisdictional boundaries before holding a 7 p.m. regular session that will include nominations for new council members to replace those whose terms are expiring.
The meetings were moved to the Talkeetna Library from the usual location, the elementary school. A boundary review is done periodically at the request of the Mat-Su Borough.
Council members will also review the status of the Talkeetna Playground Project, which will proceed with a design day Sept. 18 during which members of the public can give input into what kind of playground should be created. The council has been asked to open a checking account for the project, which has received a bed tax grant.
The council will also learn the details of a meeting with Borough officials over proposed Alaska Railroad Corp. improvements in downtown Talkeetna and may set the time and location of a Sept. 17 community work session to discuss those plans.
The council will also discuss its participation in a Sept. 21 meeting of community councils throughout the Upper Susitna Valley, which takes place Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. at the Willow Community Center.
Attendees might want to bring some change. Item G under “New Business” on the council agenda reads, “Post Office Box Rental — Pass the hat?”
