Talkeetna Festival of Books has events scheduled at various locations throughout downtown on Oct. 8.
Alaska Writer Laureate Peggy Shumaker will be in town Oct. 7 to do a workshop with the students in third to sixth grades at Talkeetna Elementary School. A meet-and-greet event with a question-and-answer period is scheduled at the Denali Arts Hangar that evening.
The main festival is at the Northern Susitna Institute building and includes book signings, Battle of the Books, Book Trivia, Friends of the Talkeetna Library with information on its new proposed library, a free kids library, arts and crafts, book art, a bake sale and a banned book scavenger hunt. Also, Denali Drama will perform “Book Drama,” and Kristin Link will show illustrations she’s created for science books at Denali Arts Hangar.
Hangar Door Cinema will also host its annual Banned Book Movie. This year it’s “Fahrenheit 451.”
