Talkeetna man indicted for child porn, indecent photography

TALKEETNA — A man used a hidden video camera to film a 17-year-old girl undressing, and kept the videos hidden for almost a year in his sock drawer, authorities said.

Trent B. Griffin, 31, faces three counts of possessing child pornography and five counts of felony indecent viewing following his girlfriend’s discovery of two memory cards in a sock in his dresser drawer April 21, according to an affidavit written by Alaska State Trooper Michael Shelley.

Griffin is listed as a pilot with the Talkeetna Air Taxi, a service widely known for providing air support for Denali climbers.

The girlfriend “said she was concerned about what the memory cards contained as Griffin has a problem with porn,” Shelley wrote.

The videos on the memory card turned out to be of the 17-year-old showering, according to the affidavit. Another video showed Griffin placing the hidden camera, according to the affidavit.

Because the victim was under 18, the indecent viewing charges constitute a Class C felony, as do the child pornography convictions. Griffin faces a potential 40-year maximum sentence upon conviction, depending on how a judge structures the sentence.

Griffin was out on an unsecured bond. The charges are Griffin’s first felony charge, according to court records.

The victim also was known to the accused, Shelley wrote.
