Talkeetna man killed in Parks Highway crash

TALKEETNA — Alaska State Troopers with the Alaska Bureau of Highway Patrol South Central Team and Wildlife Troopers responded to Mile 91, Parks Highway at 8:24 p.m., Dec. 14 for a report of a motor vehicle crash with entrapment.

Troopers report Brian Buckley, 30, of Anchorage, was driving his 2005 Dodge pickup southbound on the Parks Highway when he lost control of his vehicle.

The pickup entered oncoming traffic, where it struck a 1986 Subaru wagon being driven by Johnny Yow, 54 of Talkeetna.

James Yow, 56 of Talkeetna, a passenger in Yow’s vehicle, was declared deceased at the scene.

Both drivers — Buckley and Johnny Yow — were transported to the hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the crash.

Troopers report alcohol does not appear to be a factor in this crash, but it appears that seat belt use is a factor.
