WASILLA — A pair of Talkeetna residents were rescued following a plane crash west of the Willow Airport late Saturday night.

According to the Alaska State Troopers, Robin Spaulding, 20, and John Cabaud, 29, were both injured in the crash that was reported just before midnight. Cabaud was teaching Spaulding, “night flight operations,” according to troopers. The plane crashed during a training maneuver, troopers said.

Both suffered non-life threatening injuries, were rescued by an Alaska Air National Guard helicopter, and transported to a local hospital.

AST, Willow Fire and emergency services crews responded, but were unable to reach the scene of the accident, trooper said.

The National Transportation Safety Board was notified of the accident. This is a developing story.
