Talkeetna runner tops women’s class in Hatcher Pass Marathon

WILLOW — Talkeetna’s Lisa Drumm led the women’s class during the Hatcher Pass Marathon July 9 in Willow.

Drumm finished the course that spans Willow Fishhook Road from Willow to the main Independence Mine Historical State Park parking lot in 4 hours, 13 minutes and 39 seconds. Drumm also finished third overall among the 26 runners who finished.

A pair of Anchorage men swept the top two spots in the overall field. Dugan Greenwell was the overall winner, clocking a time of 3:43:46. Greenwell was the only runner to crack the four-hour mark. Joseph Dillon placed second with a time of 4:06:19. Michael Minchaca, also of Anchorage, was third in the men’s class and fourth overall, with his time of 4:45:48.

Ray Hafen led Valley runners in the men’s class, finishing fifth overall with a time of 4:49:06.
