Tanker rollover Mile 80 of Parks Hwy slows traffic

Drivers are being warned of a propane tanker rollover on Mile 80 of the Parks Highway that has closed one lane of the highway and slowed traffic in that area.

“Traffic is slowed, but the highway is open at this time,” said Ken Barkley, Director of Emergency Service for the Mat-Su Borough.

Barkley reports that there is no leak coming from the tanker, and that the only the driver was injured, suffering minor injuries, and was transported for further care. He advised caution as the roads are wet.

“We are waiting for additional assistance to right the tanker and safely remove it from the road at this time. In the meantime, traffic will not be stopped, but it will be slow. We urge drivers to be alert.”
