Teacher corrects comments

To the editor:

I would like to respond to the Spectrum article dated July 31 by School Board Member Ms. Hamblen. With all due respect, while accurately quoted, the full intent of my message was not conveyed. I would like to clarify my comment. While under the NANA contract, my room had not been adequately cleaned at night as it had been under the previous CEA contract. Therefore, I stated I would work with an increased class size to compensate for the costs related to renewing CEA’s contract. In no way was I trying to say custodial was more important than education. It takes a solid team of teachers, parents and support people to make a child’s education a success.

Thank you for the opportunity for me to clarify my original comment.
