To the editor,
The recent article “Students Creativity Knows No Limits” by Diana Sloan-Basner was of great interest to me as a member of the first graduating class of Birchtree Charter School. Now, four years later, I will be graduating high school. The barter system described in the aforementioned article indicated that each child from a young age has a basic knowledge of how business works. These children also appear to be able to recognize how there are differences between the needs and talents of each individual. I find it fascinating that even a young child can differentiate between these especially in the case that no adult has coerced them into doing so. Whether this phenomena is isolated to the playgrounds of Birchtree Charter School or if all children share this trait is entirely up to those who wish to label this behavior. You have my gratitude for publishing this article.
