Team Alaska grapplers earn medals

Early in the week, Team Alaska earned a gold medal in the Arctic Winter Games mixed team wrestling event. On Thursday and Friday, members of the team also earned a handful of medals in the individual events.

Corbin Lutz, of Wasilla, won a gold medal at 70 kilograms in Inuit wrestling and a bronze in freestyle. Corbin’s twin sister Brynlee finished with a silver in freestyle and bronze in Inuit at 60 kilograms.

Anna Belle Valentine earned gold in both categories. Hunter Gumlickpuk finished with a gold in freestyle and silver in Inuit. Antonio Perez, Breaker Schmit and Infinity-Ann Asiata-Higa scored a gold in freestyle.

Breaker Schmit and Dazlyn Dayton finished with silver in both categories.
