WASILLA — Four teams from the Mat-Su Valley and four others from outside the borough will drop the puck this weekend during the Curtis C. Menard II Memorial Tournament at the Menard Memorial Arena in Wasilla.
Wasilla (1-2) opens tourney play Thursday against Lathrop, the 2008-09 4A state champion, at 12:30 p.m. Palmer (2-1-1) follows against East Anchorage.
Thursday evening, Colony (4-2) meets North Star Conference rival Kenai Central. The first round ends with Houston (0-1) facing Eagle River.
The Menard Arena is also the home of the state touranaments in February.
