Teen faces more charges in cases linked to Grunwald murder investigation

Devin L. Peterson, one of five teens charged with the Nov. 13, 2016, kidnapping and murder of 16-year-old David Grunwald, was arraigned on seven additional Class C felonies in Palmer Superior Court Tuesday.

According to online court records, Peterson, 18, was indicted Jan. 6 on six counts of possession of child pornography and one count of distributing indecent material to minors. The court lists the offense dates related to the possession charges as between Nov. 30 and Dec. 6, 2016. Court records state the distribution count allegedly took place Dec. 2, the same day police made the first arrest in the Grunwald case.

The indictment alleges Peterson was in possession of six different images of child pornography. He also allegedly sent a picture of his genitalia to someone under the age of 16.

Peterson was indicted by a grand jury Dec. 9 on three felony counts of evidence tampering and one felony count of hindering prosecution in the Grunwald case. He remains jailed on $100,000 bail on those charges.

The courthouse file in Peterson’s latest charges did not contain a police affidavit. Additional bail on the pornography charges were set at $5,000 cash and a court-appointed third party.
