MAT-SU -- The driver of a 1995 Plymouth Voyager allegedly struck and killed a 16-year-old boy Saturday night before fleeing the scene in an apparent hit and run, according to a press release from the Alaska State Troopers.
Just after 10:30 p.m. Saturday, , Richard Brown, 52, was driving east near the intersection of Bogard Road and Leatherleaf Loop in Wasilla when he allegedly hit William Nollner, 16, of Anchorage, who was walking east along Bogard Road with a friend, according to troopers.
Nollner's friend tried to flag down passing cars for help but no one would stop. The friend had to run to his home nearly a mile away to get help, according to troopers.
Brown reportedly fled the area and went to a residence in Wasilla.
Nollner was taken to Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:10 p.m.
On Sunday, troopers received information about where the van and its driver might be located. Troopers found Brown and arrested him for manslaughter, criminal negligent homicide, felony leaving the scene and driving with a revoked license.
Brown was taken to Mat-Su Pre-Trial Facility, with bail set at $150,000 cash and court-approved third-party custodian.
