Wasilla Police Department officers were dispatched to the Valley Cinema, on Old Matanuska Road, at about 6:45 p.m. Friday for a reported stabbing. Police and Alaska State Troopers arrived and found that multiple teenagers had been involved in a fight inside one of the theaters. During the fight, one teenager was stabbed, according to a press release issued by WPD Saturday afternoon.
The suspect remained on scene and cooperated with officers, while the victim was transported to Mat-Su Regional for life-saving treatment. The victim later died of their injuries after being air-lifted to Providence Hospital, police said.
This incident is being investigated as a homicide. Neither the suspect nor victim names will be released, as they are both juveniles, WPD said. The investigation is ongoing.
