FRISCO, TEXAS — The Texas Tornado skated to a 10-4 win over the Alaska Avalanche in Frisco, Texas, on Thursday.
Alaska forward Kyle Pichler scored twice in the first six minutes to give the Avs the 2-0 lead, but Texas scored three times late in the first to take the advantage.
Two of those scores came during a 16-second span.
Jeremiah Dargis and Tyler Currier also scored for Alaska.
The contest is the first of a three-game series. Play continues tonight in Frisco at 4 p.m. AST.
The Avs are currently closing in on the tail end of an 11-game road trip. Alaska is 1-6 on the trip that still includes a two-game series at Topeka (Kan.).
