To the editor:
On behalf of the Rotary Club of Wasilla, I would like to thank Valley residents and personally acknowledge the generosity of this community in their support to help homeless youth in the Mat-Su Valley. In 2012, the Rotary Club of Wasilla partnered with MyHouse, a nonprofit dedicated to solving the homeless youth crisis in the Valley by proactive fundraising and hands-on service projects.
Over the past several months I have personally witnessed the support and generosity of Valley residents. Their donations and their hours of volunteering are humbling. It has been amazing to see the spectrum and diversity of people who are actively taking a stand to support homeless youth.
The Rotary Club of Wasilla recently collected donations from throughout the Valley to assist MyHouse and Burchell High School with their Saturday School, providing holiday survival kits to help youth during the Christmas break. This would not have been possible without generous donors like Girls Scout Troop 911, Wasilla Christian Church and the folks at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center, as well as so many others.
Thank you again from our entire membership at the Rotary Club of Wasilla.
Sondra Kaplan,
President
