Thank you Mat-Su Health Foundation

To the editor:

Something wonderful has happened to Family Promise Mat-Su! Mat-Su Health Foundation has graciously accepted our grant request for $195,000 to purchase our current location, 561 W. Nelson Ave., Wasilla, across the street from Wasilla Wonderland Park.

We now have a permanent home! This will add 10 overflow shelter beds to our church host sites. And since we will no longer have to budget for rental fees, this gift will allow us to offer much-needed services for our homeless guests.

Family Promise Mat-Su is a nonprofit organization. Our mission is to mobilize community resources and local congregations to provide compassionate care through shelter, meals and case management to families without housing. Our ultimate goal is to help homeless families achieve self-sustainability.

Mat-Su Health Foundation has helped us move one step closer to this goal. And so, on behalf of our guests and our staff, we, the board of Family Promise Mat-Su, thank you, Mat-Su Health Foundation. Know that your generosity is not only wonderful, but you are doing at least one more thing to assist those in our community who really do need your help. Thank you so very much for contributing to this worthy cause.

Family Promise Mat-Su Board members John Weaver, president; Barri Blackman-Green, vice president; Barb Brown, secretary; Bobbie Ackley, treasurer; Mollie Boyer; Gini King-Taylor; Sara Wilber; and executive director, Laurie Kari.
