Thank you to pioneers home staff

To the editor:

I just buried my husband on July 5, 2013. He spent his last year and a half at the Alaska Veterans and Pioneers Home in Palmer. My daughter and I spent many hours there and had the privilege of working with and observing the staff interact with our loved one. From the start we were made to feel welcome and never felt like strangers. In just a very short time, my husband felt completely at home and that the staff was part of his family.

We were continually impressed with the quality of the care given. The attention to his physical needs was always prompt and consistent. Every routine act was performed with kindness and concern for his emotional wellbeing. The staff was exceptional in its ability to relate to him even when he was having a very difficult time. But the most impressive feature of the home was that the staff, from the director on down, appeared to be cohesive and happy. They really like the residents and are happy to provide their last years of care.

We write this to express our appreciation and complete satisfaction with the Pioneers Home’s care of our husband and father.
