My mother grew up on a homestead in Palmer. One of my aunts still lives in Big Lake. My sisters live in Juneau. I am one-quarter Aleut. I lived and worked in Juneau, Anchorage and Kodiak. My grandmother was born on Whale Island.
That makes me pretty darned Alaskan, even though I now live in California.
Alaskan enough to say that Governor Palin does not speak for me and many other Alaskans. Nor is Wasilla the voice of Alaska. Get a life.
Next time you have a chance to send someone to the national stage to represent Alaska, try sending somebody who makes us proud. That’s as polite as I can be about this entire affair. Thanks, but no thanks, to the Palins. You can have them. You betcha.
