To the editor:
The second annual Valley Thanksgiving Blessing was Nov. 19. This event could not have happened without many churches and organizations joining together to provide for those in need.
The Wasilla site provided the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal to 1,071 families in the Valley. We were blessed with many volunteers who helped set up the church the day before the event, youth groups and Scout troops that bagged apples and potatoes or made cards, churches that collected money and canned goods, helpers who baked cookies, those who donated trucks and forklifts, and many who volunteered the day of the blessing.
Thank you to the following: Wasilla Bible Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, First Presbyterian Church, Trinity Lutheran Church, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Northgate Church, Christ First United Methodist Church, St. David’s Episcopal Church, Wasilla Lake Church of the Nazarene, Mat-Su Christian Center, Wasilla Food Pantry, Blood N Fire, Kaladi Coffee, Wasilla High School girls basketball team, Alaska State Fair, KLT American and Asian Food, House of Bread, Next Step Program, Strong Women Strength Training Group, Lowe’s, The Home Depot, Wal-Mart, GSLC Preschool, Midnight Sun Charter School, Matanuska and Iditarod Masonic Lodge, Timber Huggins, Chuck Morris, Boy Scout Troop 300, Cub Scout Troops 359 and 330, Daisy Girl Scout Troop 20, Alaska Family Services, Food Bank of Alaska, B Original Signs, Mat-Su Health Foundation, and many others who donated and helped.
We thank you for your generosity and support of this community wide effort to bless our neighbors. We look forward to the next Wasilla Christmas Blessing on Dec. 17.
