Thanks for leadership on farm, food issues

The Alaska Farmland Trust wants to thank our elected officials for their tremendous support of Alaska farms, farmers and food this past session.

In particular I want to thank Rep. Bill Stoltze, who introduced House Concurrent Resolution 1, which creates an Alaska Food Resource Working Group; Rep. Shelley Hughes, who introduced House Bill 40, which allows municipalities to exempt certain farm structures used solely for food production and storage; and Gov. Sean Parnell, who recently signed these two pieces of legislation into law.

Their leadership on these issues increases Alaska’s food security, residents’ access to local foods and the state’s agricultural economy.
