Wasilla celebrated Adoption Awareness Month at North Bowl on Nov. 13. It was a huge success, as we had bowling, a buffet lunch, information tables staffed by the Office of Children’s Services and Alaska Center for Resource Families, a silent auction, door prizes, Life Books and several families shared their personal adoption stories.
This event would not have been possible without support from our community in the form of cash, in-kind donations and volunteer labor. Alaska Center for Resource Families would like to thank the following generous donors for their support: BP, Wal-Mart, Tan Alaska, Wilson’s Wasilla Video, Elmendorf Officer’s Spouses’ Organization, Iditarod Gift Shop, Valley Quilter’s Guild, Walden Books, Alaska Railroad, Rizz’s Nail Salon, Shane Lamb Studio, Town Square Art Gallery, Alaska Airlines, Target, Scoops Ice Cream and Dairy Queen. We would also like to thank our volunteers: Genie’s Gang, Alias family, Erin’s crew, Kara and Beth, and our guest speakers Linda Helmick, Judy Edwards, Genie Worden, Cindy Bergamo, Rozann Kimpton and Cheryl Hunter.
