To the editor:
Thanks for publishing the energy related columns of Paul Morley.
He is doing a great job outlining the issues behind our addiction to nonrenewable resources.
While Mr. Morley is addressing the situation of energy supply, there is also a huge role for reducing energy demand. We know now that energy conservation and efficiency measures are the most cost-effective ways to “produce” energy. In fact, there is a session at the upcoming Business of Clean Energy in Alaska Conference called “In Search of the Negawatt.”
I work in the building industry, where we have found that with current technology we can reduce building energy demands by more than 80 percent — opening the door for production of energy with renewable sources.
Again, thanks to Mr. Morley for his timely and well-researched writing.
