To the editor:
Dr. Lund at Valley Urology and his hard-working staff, completed their 16th year of testing PSA (prostate specific antigen). The screening saw more than 120 men, most of them for the first time.
Mat-Su Regional Hospital sponsored all of the lab blood tests. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped make this possible. These tests are very important for the men in the community, and this was an opportunity for free testing. Prostate cancer is a silent killer, one out of six men have the possibility of getting it, so early detection is always recommended.
The genetic pool can work against you, so it is always good to know your family history. The new national level for PSA is 2.5 or above. This number alerts for prostate problems.
Kudos to Dr. Lund and associates.
We commend you for your service and dedication. Without Valley Urology, many men who have prostate cancer would go undiagnosed.
