Running for potatoes? Yes, and only in Palmer and during the Alaska State Fair!
This fun and fast race was the Fair Day 5-K road race hosted by the Valley Women’s Running Team on Aug. 30. The team was excited about reviving an old tradition of having a 5-K during the fair. Overall and age group winners received a 5-pound bag of homegrown potatoes from VanderWeele Farm.
A special thanks to our sponsors, participants and volunteers — Mat-Su Health Foundation, VanderWeele Farm, Fred Meyer, Valley Mountain Bikers and Hikers, Garden Chiropractic, Subway, Palmer High School, Mike Janecek and Dale Ewart.
