Thanks for supporting high tea fundraiser

To the editor:

The Garden High Tea fundraiser this past Saturday to benefit the Linda Lockhart medical fund was an incredible success, and a huge bouquet of thanks must go to everyone who helped make it so.

First and foremost, immense thanks to Florene and Doug Carney of Snowfire Gardens for opening up their home and magnificent grounds for this occasion, which could not have been a more lovely venue for a garden tea. Thanks to everyone who donated silent auction items and door prizes so that every one of the more than 125 guests left with something to take with them. Thank you to all the many volunteers who donated time and expertise to produce everything associated with this endeavor, from food and beverages to the aprons; from tables, chairs and tablecloths to centerpieces; from the beautifully designed tickets and name tags to table-tent menus done in calligraphy. It could not have been more elegant. Our grateful thanks to the Valley Winds for their lovely, lilting flute music, which was the perfect accompaniment to the day’s events.

Thank you to the businesses and garden clubs that helped sell tickets: Meadow Lakes Bloomers, Valley Garden Club, Woolwood Gardens, Donna’s Corner, Red Beet Bistro and Steve’s Toyo Stove Repair, and to all the individuals who also helped in this regard. Many thanks to the Frontiersman, Make-a-Scene, KMBQ Valley Radio and Country Legends for your enormous help in getting the word out about this fundraiser. You are all such a vital part of our community.

Thank you more than words can say for everyone who attended the tea. You all looked stunning in your finest tea attire, and your generous spirits lifted up the day. Speaking of, we can’t forget to be so very thankful to Mother Nature for providing us with one of her most magnificent days of this summer — nothing but blue skies and warm sunshine, with birds and flowers aplenty.

Thanks also to the partners, spouses and other unsung heroes who came early to help set up and late to help break down — their strength and speed made the tasks so much easier.

And most of all, thanks to Linda Lockhart and John Erskine, the reason for this fundraiser, whose caring and generosity have helped bring a smile to so many people around the Valley, and whose creative genius was evident in every aspect of this fabulous event. We’re all pulling for you, Linda and John, and we’re so pleased that you could be out there enjoying this special day!
