To the editor:
The Mat-Su Ski Club would like to thank several local businesses and organizations for the incredible support we received to better prepare for the Government Peak Climb, a fundraiser, for Colony High School Nordic Ski Team June 7 at the new Government Peak Recreation Area.
This Mountain Run is one of the first in the series of Mountain Runs, that include the most famous Mount Marathon held on Fourth of July weekend in Seward.
The Ski Club identified a shortcoming in medical support, including equipment, for the race and graciously the following stepped up and supported our efforts to fill the shortcoming; Mat-Su Regional Medical Center: John Lee and Ruby, Geneva Woods Pharmacy and David Johnston, Capstone Family Medicine and Wade Ericksen, and the always supportive Mat-Su Health Foundation.
These wonderful businesses and foundations provided numerous first-aid supplies, money to purchase supplies, and Mat-Su Regional purchased a backboard to help build the Ski Club’s Medical Kits that volunteer Medical Professions could utilize if needed. Wade Ericksen and Capstone even provided medical staff who were there when one of the Runners was suffering the effects of a previous injury.
Thank you all especially the Medical Professionals who went on the “Hill,” Sheri Musgrave, Brenda Sheldon, Megan Larson and Kris Kyle.
Thank you again!
