Thanks for supporting Wasilla Clean-Up Days

To the editor:

The city of Wasilla and its Parks and Recreation Commission would like to express their appreciation and sincere thanks to all who helped with Wasilla Clean-Up Days from May 1 to 12. During that time volunteers picked up more than 24 truckloads of trash from roadways and public areas.

A special thanks to all the organizations and businesses that provided donations and prizes. These prizes were given to participating youth at a picnic after the event.

Thank you to Chepo’s, Wal-Mart, Target, Just Imagine Toys, Hair Unlimited, The Tub House and Tanning, Blockbuster Video, All I Saw, Learning Essentials, Aesthetic Family Dentistry, Dr. Kevin H. Cochran, Mocha Moose, Chimo Guns, MEA, First National Bank, American Legion Auxiliary Unit 35, VFW Post 9365, Dr. Jack Duclos, Sportsman’s Warehouse, Alaska Bicycle Center Inc., Fred Meyer and IHOP.

The commissioners would also like to express their gratitude to the Mat-Su Borough for providing a large Dumpster to aide in the deposit of clean-up bags and other refuse, AMVETS Post No. 9, Carr’s/Safeway of Wasilla for providing donations and supplies for the picnic, and Alaska Industrial Hardware for providing a grill to cook for the picnic.

A resounding thank you from the Parks and Recreation Commissioners.
