The Mat-Su Schools Foundation provided our fifth-sixth class at Shaw Elementary School with grant money for our field trip to Seward on May 18-19. This trip included a train trip to Seward, a guided tour of Exit Glacier, an overnight stay with classes and scavenger hunt through the Sea Life Center and a biology cruise with Kenai Fjord Tours on Resurrection Bay.
Needless to say, the experiential learning that took place was incredible and unforgettable.
We would like to thank Mat-Su Schools Foundation for their generous contribution to help make this trip happen for our students and many parents. For many students this was their first and maybe only time in their life to taste the majesty of our state in such powerful ways. It will be a lifetime memory for many.
Thanks again for seeing that learning can be extended far beyond the classroom.
