To the editor:
I would like to express my thanks to all the volunteers and organizations that helped make the Wasilla Thanksgiving Blessing event a true blessing to so many Valley folks.
From the guys who had to brave the wind in the parking lot, to trucking companies donating their trucks, to churches donating money and food, or volunteers baking cookies or bagging thousands of pounds of potatoes and pears, it takes many hands to be able to provide this blessing. We gave out turkeys and all the fixings for a Thanksgiving meal to 1,200 families on Nov. 17. While it is meant to be a blessing to those who are in need, it is also a blessing to those of us who volunteer and see the spirit of giving in so many of our neighbors and friends.
A heartfelt thank you to the following groups and organizations that helped: Wasilla Bible Church, Good Shepherd Lutheran, Northgate Alaska Church, Wasilla Christian Church and Kayla Horning, First Presbyterian Church, Blood and Fire Ministries, Christ First United, St. David’s Episcopal Church, Wasilla Lake Church of the Nazarene, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Frontline Mission, Word of Life International Ministry, Russian Baptist Church, Slavic Evangelical Church, Iditarod Masonic Lodge 20, Matanuska Masonic Lodge 7, Boy Scout Troop 300, Food Pantry of Wasilla, Wasilla High girls basketball team, Wasilla ROTC, Next Step Program, Kaladi Brothers, Home Depot, Lowe’s, GH Alaska, Rodda Paint, Performa Inc., GCI, Kibe Lucas, Matthew Malone at Lynden Transport and Chuck Morris at Arctic Steel Buildings.
Thank you for your generosity.
