Thanks to firefighters and Red Cross

To the editor:

I had a house fire on Nov. 22, 2012, Thanksgiving morning, at 2 a.m. I have never properly thanked all the firefighters who showed up in minus 20-degree temperatures to fight my fire.

I would like to thank all of them publicly, especially that one particular person who brought my dog from my third floor and placed her in the back of my van for me. It could not have been an easy task. It was a huge loss for me and I will be forever grateful.

I also want to thank the Red Cross. When the fire chief asked if I would need them, I really didn’t have an answer as one sometimes doesn’t when in shock.

Within a half hour of asking, some wonderful people from that organization showed up with kindness and caring. I will also be forever grateful to them and support them as much as I can and would ask readers to do the same. They were awesome with their help.

Thank you also to the Quilters Guild from Palmer for the beautiful quilt they presented me with — something homemade and new for my house when it is rebuilt.

All of you were right there with a helping hand. I love this Valley!
